Start putting in the effort

What makes a training program work?

Effort.

Okay, awesome post Dan now lets go drink some coffee and high five each other… oh, you want more?! KK, lets do this.

One of the big points that is often overlooked by people trying to get their sexification/ strength gainz (clearly on the internet you need a ‘Z’) on is the drive to push themselves. I find I consistently put this point across to people with whatever their goals my be.

I happen to be very fortunate and work at a great facility equivalent to an A list movie filled with all the hottest stars, except strength equipment instead. Can I compare Emma Stone to having a sled and track space… yea sure.

But having all this great kit and following a well structured program (which you can find out how to do here) wont guarantee results compared to someone who perhaps has little in terms of equipment and coaching but pours their heart into it every single day.

I’m not saying you should train hard every day but do you put in effort outside of the gym as well. With recovery, drinking enough water, moving or stretching on your off days and not just sitting around playing World of Warcraft. Yup, I know because I was that person. I wouldn’t do any extra than I had to and it showed with my training. I would move as poorly as the Tin Man and was as prone to injury as Samuel L Jackson's character from Unbreakable.

I feel it is summed up very well in this video brought to you by ET... if you haven’t seen it before you should check it out:

When adversity strikes---and it will strike---you must be willing to IMPOSE YOUR WILL onto the situation. Now I’m sure he could have gotten to NFL standard with a structured program and a coach, but it was his heart and his effort that made him who he became.

Now, with your own training, how much do you want to get out of it? If all you want to do is 45 minutes of treadmill walking and a few curls then you probably shouldn't expect to look like Huge Jackedman... urrr, Hugh Jackman from the Wolverine. Start putting in the effort and the results you want will come.
